This is one of Tamara de Lempicka’s most iconic images. It first appeared on the cover of the magazine “Die Dame” in 1929. It shows a striking woman driving the most powerful and expensive car of the day, a Bugatti. She is in charge of her life defiantly looking into the future, strong, beautiful and sure of herself. The New York Times called her the “Steely Eyed Goddess of the Machine Age”
